Can you still recall the excitement of the first time your parents took you to the amusement park that you had been itching to go for a long time? I can still remember clearly that I was so keyed up that night before a school trip to the Pearl Amusement Park that I was unable to fall asleep. Thanks to those who devoted their work to those amusement parks that I had been to, I have a lot of amusement-park-related happy childhood memories and the staffs of amusement parks are still giving their best to keep our beloved amusement parks running. Just on March 9th, the 2016 Asia Amusement and Attraction Expo descended upon Guangzhou where the magnets of amusement parks gathered to meet each other and discussed the future development path for amusement parks.
Amusement parks, especially water parks are gaining remarkable popularity in these days. But where are water parks heading in the next five years? Concerning this issue, an exclusive interview with Tian Gaoqi, the chairman of Daxin Amusement Group, was conducted and a lot of inspiring ideas were shared.
The potential of water parks’ further development and the gradually saturated market are the issues we are most concerned about. In this regard, Chairman Tian Gaoqi observes that water park industry may has passed its prime of growth and the market is meeting the point of saturation but it does not necessarily mean that this business is faced with recession. He believes that with the growth of domestic economy, our government’s strong support for tourism and the public’s ever-growing requirement for high quality amusements and recreations, this industry is actually reaching its maturity with more rational investments and a wider range of choices for customers. Chairman Tian Gaoqi also predicts five main development trends of water parks.
First, the general growth of this industry will slow down and the whole business will eventually enter a phase of low-speed, steady and sustainable development.
Second, water parks of middle or small sizes, professional parks and theme parks will eventually dominate the investment market and a more specifically classified market will be formed gradually.
Third, people from third and forth tier cities will become the main source of costumers and more water parks will be built in small and medium cities with smaller scales and more features.
Forth, it is imperative for those traditional, ordinary and large-scale water parks to upgrade their facilities, optimize their management strategies and add more features to their products, or else they will be faced with the loss of customers and competitiveness.
Fifth, tremendous challenges and a shuffle of the whole business are awaiting. Enterprises whose products have multiple functions, high quality and various experience for customers will take over the market.
In a word, China’s water park industry still has tremendous potentials for further development.
